Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Review
It’s easy to ignore it’s easy to overlook the Galaxy S22 Plus. In the end, it’s not the cheapest phone in Samsung’s Galaxy S22 range, as it’s priced at just $1000 (PS949, 1,549 AU$) as opposed against the $1,800 (PS769, $1,249 AU) Galaxy S22. However, it doesn’t come with features like the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s distinctive features, such as its S Pen stylus and quadruple-lens camera. Where does it fit in?
It’s as simple as that It’s that simple: The Galaxy S22 Plus is a larger variant of the Galaxy S22. It’s designed for users who prefer smartphones with larger screens, but don’t need a phone that’s as massive or costlylike that 6.8-inch Galaxy S22 Ultra, priced at $1200 (PS1,149 or AU$1,849). Its Galaxy S22 Plus’ 6.6-inch screen is a perfect proportion of allowing more screen space, but not becoming overpowering. It may even be my most-loved phone in the Galaxy S22 trio.
The Galaxy S22 lineup comes with the latest processor, a few camera enhancements, and a new design. These are small modifications, but if switching from the phone which is more than 2 years old, then you’ll certainly enjoy these improvements. The only differences between Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus is the larger screens and batteries, as well as faster charging of 45 watts, as well as Ultrawideband support.
LIKE
- Bright screen
- A good balance between screen size and ease of use
- Camera with improved contrast and color.
- Attractive design
DON’T LIKE
- $1000 is still a lot for phone phone
- The battery life isn’t as lengthy as that of the iPhone 13 Pro’s.
- No new built-in camera modes
- The fastest charging method requires specific $50 adapter
However, the Galaxy S22 Plus isn’t perfect. The battery’s life could be improved and I’d love to see more innovative photography features that utilize the upgraded camera.
Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Plus launches on February. 25 with Samsung’s other phones. This review is basing on my experience using the phone for a few days.
Samsung’s Galaxy S22 phones get a design upgrade
One of the first things you’ll be able to notice with Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Plus is its updated design. The standard model and the Plus both feature an aluminum and glass design which feels more expensive and refined than the last phones, which I love although I’m sure that most users will be covering the phone with a case. Galaxy S21 Galaxy S21 has the appearance of a metallic brushed finish on the backof the phone, while the new phones sport an appearance that resembles an icy glass. It’s a little similar to that of the iPhone 13 Pro.
However, this is its Galaxy S22 Plus dimensions which makes it stand out in Samsung’s latest collection. It’s a lot easier to use and hold with one hand as opposed to it’s predecessor, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which is an ultra-minitablet. But Samsung’s S22 Plus feels substantially bigger than the Galaxy S22 with an 6.1-inch screen. The phones are also slightly smaller than the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus that had 6.2-inch screens and 6.7-inch screens, respectively. I can imagine an S22 Plus being ideal if you spend a lot of video or reading using or with your phone but don’t want spend the $1200 S22 Ultra.
The Galaxy S22’s display performance isn’t much different over last year’s model. Similar to those of the S21 as well as the S21 Plus, the new phones feature the FHD Plus Dynamic AMOLED screen. The main distinction is that Samsung claims that the screens on Galaxy S22 Plus and the Galaxy S22 Plus as well as the S22 Ultra have the brightest of any Galaxy phone as of now.
I don’t own the S21 Plus, but the Galaxy S22 Plus seemed noticeably brighter than the regular S21 while viewing the identical video on the two devices with their maximum brightness. It also outperformed its predecessor, the Pixel 6 Pro by a large distance in terms of brightness.
Samsung has also introduced a brand new display feature named Vision Booster to the Galaxy S22 range. Similar to the Apple True Tone, Vision Booster is supposed to match the S22’s display to the light in the surrounding. But, I didn’t see any difference in contrast against Samsung’s Galaxy S21.
A better camera with improved color and contrast
The Galaxy S22’s most significant modifications is the new camera. Its cameras Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus come with a main camera of 50 megapixels and an image sensor that’s 23% larger, in comparison to those on the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus which have a twelve-megapixel primary camera. Samsung has also claimed that it’s enhanced the way that all three of the new Galaxy S22 devices take pictures in dim light.
Samsung Galaxy S22 and S21 Camera Specs
As of now, I’m seeing general improvements in clarity, color and contrast when compared to Samsung’s Galaxy S21. The picture of a floral bouquet below is the most prominent illustration. The color is more real in this Galaxy S22 Plus photo compared to the photo taken on the Galaxy S21, especially when it concerns purple and red shades. The rose petals look more sharp and brighter when compared those of the Galaxy S21’s picture. Samsung’s previous phone was more focused on the others flowers in the image, including the carnation in red, however I’m generally of the opinion that this S22 Plus’ photo looks more appealing. It also appeared more vibrant as compared to the image taken with the Google Pixel 6 Pro.
